Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Mindelo, Cape Verde, is between November and June, when the weather is warm and dry with little to no rainfall. Temperatures during this period range from 22–28°C (72–82°F), making it perfect for exploring the city's lively music scene, colonial architecture, and beautiful beaches. If you visit in February, you’ll experience Mindelo’s Carnival, the biggest and most vibrant festival in Cape Verde, featuring colourful parades, live music, and an energetic atmosphere similar to Rio’s Carnival but with a unique Cape Verdean twist.
From July to October, the weather is hotter and more humid, with occasional tropical rains, especially in August and September. While this is the low season for tourism, it’s still a great time to enjoy a more relaxed and less crowded Mindelo, with lush green landscapes after the rains. If you love music, August is also a great time to visit, as the famous Baía das Gatas Music Festival takes place, drawing local and international artists for a beachfront celebration of Cape Verdean rhythms.
